Box Score Brooklyn, NY- The Women's Basketball team defeated the Pratt Institute Cannoneers 61-44 earlier today at Pratt Institute in the 2013-14 Season Opener. This is the Cougars 1st victory in two seasons.
The Cougars who improve to 1-0, started off the game on a 6-0 run. They never gave up the lead not once in this contest. The Cougars shot 38.3% from the field compared to Pratt's 35.4%. The Cougars shot 40% from the free throw line and 42.3% from behind the arc. Pratt shot 22.2% from the charity strip and 25.8% from behind the arc.
The Cougars out rebounded the Cannoneers 48-41.
In the win, the Cougars were led by Sophomore Guard
Nia Tompkins with a game high of 21pts (7-14 FG, 3-6 3PT. FGM-FGA, and 4-8 FT-FTA). The Queens, NY native added an assist and 3 steals. Freshman Forward/Center
Kimonia Mullings scored 16pts and grabbed a game high 17 rebounds. The fellow Queens, NY native added 7 steals. Sophomore Forward
Imani Mason scored 10pts, grabbed 4 rebounds, and tallied 3 assists, and 3 steals.
Pratt in the loss, was led by Anna Bryce with 17pts.
The Cougars will be back in action on Wednesday Nov. 20th, 2013, when they the Saint Joseph's College of Brooklyn Bears at Medgar Evers College. It will be the home opener and game time will be 7:00pm.
