COUGARS RECORD THEIR 2ND WIN IN 2013, DEFEATING PRATT INSTITUTE

Box Score Brooklyn, NY- The Medgar Evers College Women's Basketball Cougars defeated the Pratt Institute Cannoneers 69-45 in the Consolation Game of the 15th Annual Dr. Betty Shabazz Tournament. The win improves the Cougars record to 2-3 Overall while Pratt drops 1-3 Overall.

The Cougars led from the opening tip. The Cougars pressured Pratt into committing 36 turnovers. The Cougars shot 32.9% from the field, 23.1% from 3pt. range, and 43.8% from the free throw line.

In the win, Sophomore Guard Nia Tompkins led with a game high 27pts (2-4 FT-FTA). Sophompre Guard Imani Mason scored 21pts (4-8 FT-FTA). She grabbed 12, tallied four assists, and five steals. Freshman Ashley Desir scored 10pts, grabbed five rebounds, tallied four assists, and five steals.

In the loss, Pratt was led by Anna Bryce with 12pts. Carl Cai added 11pts.

In the Championship Game, The College of New Rochelle Blue Angels defeated the Yeshiva Maccabees 91-86 OT. The All-Tournament team was announced as Jasmine Brandon of CNR was named MVP. Jah-Leah Ellis of CNR, Julia Owen of Yeshiva, Anna Bryce of Pratt, and Imani Mason of MEC, were all named to the team.
