Box Score Brooklyn, NY- The Medgar Evers College Women's Basketball Cougars fell to the College of Staten Island Dolphins 94-23 earlier tonight. The Dolphins improve to 10-3 Overall and 6-0 CUNYAC while the Cougars drop to 2-12 Overall and 0-6 CUNYAC.
The Dolphins led from the opening tip. The Cougars got within three points early on at 4-1, with 17:15 left in the 1st half. This was the closest they got within the lead in the entire game.The bright spot for the Cougars, was they shot better from the field (16.6% compared to 13.5%) in the 2nd half, and better from 3pt. range shooting (25% compared to 14.2%) in the 2nd half as well.
In the loss, the Cougars were led by Co-Captain and Sophomore Guard
Nia Tompkins with 16pts (1-2 FT-FTA). The Queens. NY native grabbed six rebounds, dished out an assist, and added four steals.Â
In the win, the Dolphins were led by Megan Myhre with 20pts. Three other student-athletes scored in double digits, Melanie Johnson with 17pts, Alyssa Carlsen with 15pts, and Katelyn Hepworth adding 11pts.Â
The Cougars will be back in action on Wednesday January 15, 2014, when they travel to Jamaica, NY and take on the York College Cardinals. Game time is 6pm.Â
