Box Score Jamaica, NY- The Medgar Evers College Women's Basketball Cougars fell to the York College Cardinals 71-40 earlier tonight. The Cardinals improve to 2-11 Overall and 1-6 CUNYAC while the Cougars drop to 2-13 Overall and 0-7 CUNYAC. 

The Cardinals led from the opening tip. The closest the Cougars got to the lead, was 5-2 with 15:39 left in the 1st half. 

In the loss, the Cougars were led by Sophomore Guard and Co-Captain Nia Tompkins with a game high 18pts (4-7 FT-FTA). The Queens, NY native grabbed five rebounds and added a steal. Sophomore Guard Jaquy Lanot scored 11pts, grabbed three rebounds, and tallied two steals.

In the win, the Cardinals were led by Stacye Kay Muirhead with 15pts. Angelika Ruggiano scored 13pts and Shauncia McClendon added 11pts.

The Cougars will be back in action on Friday January 17, 2014, when they travel to New York, NY and take on the Baruch College Bearcats. Game time will be 5:30pm.
