Box Score Brooklyn, NY- The Women's Basketball team fell to the Berkeley College of New York Knights 67-39 earlier tonight. The Knights improve to 5-2 Overall while the Cougars drop to 2-9 Overall.
The Cougars and Knights started the game off, making their shots. The Cougars took an early lead five minutes in, on a jumper from Co-Captain and Sophomore Guard
Nia Tompkins, making the score 4-3). Berkeley would regain the lead, but the Cougars wouldn't let the lead build any larger than five. The Cougars would tie the game at 17, when Freshman Guard
Ashley Desir, converted on a running layup. The Knights would once regain the lead, and head into the half up 31-26. In the 2nd half, Berkeley College outscored Medgar Evers College 36-13.
In the loss, the Cougars were led by Co-Captain and Sophomore Guard
Nia Tompkins with 20pts (2-3 3pt. range, and 6-8 FT-FTA). The Queens, NY native grabbed three rebounds, dished out two assists, and forced two steals. Freshman Forward/Center
Kimonia Mullings grabbed a team high 11 rebounds. Freshman Guard
Ashley Desir tallied a team high four assists and three steals.
In the win, Berkeley College were led by Milan Germany with 20pts. Patricia Patterson scored 19pts and Janay Thomas added 10pts.
The Cougars will be back in action on Saturday January 4, 2014, when they travel to Farmingdale, NY and take on the Rams. Game time is 1pm.
