SENIOR GUARD ESSENCE PERRY HONORED BEFORE WOMEN'S BASKETBALL SEASON FINALE

Box Score Brooklyn, NY- The Medgar Evers College Women's Basketball team fell to the Saint Joseph's College of Long Island 88-55 earlier tonight. The Lady Golden Eagles improve to 4-21 Overall while the Cougars finish the season at 2-23 Overall. This was the last game of the 2013-14 season.

Prior to the game, Senior Guard Essence Perry was honored for her four years of service. The Cougars led twice in the contest. They had an early 2-0 lead to start the game, then a 4-3 lead, just two plays later. The Golden Eagles regained the lead at 6-4, and led the rest of the game.

The Cougars shot better the Saint Joseph's College of Long Island in 3pt. shooting and on the free throw line. Medgar Evers shot 40% compared to 36.1%, and 55% compared to 50%). 

In the loss, the Cougars were led by Sophomore Guard and Co-Captain Nia Tompkins with 24pts (2-5 3pt. FG-FGA and 2-2 FT-FTA). The Brooklyn native grabbed seven rebounds, dished out two assists, and added three steals. Freshman Guard Ashley Desir socred 11pts (1-2 FT-FTA), grabbed six rebounds, dished out four assists, and added a steal. Freshman Forward/Center Kimonia Mullings grabbed 15 rebounds and Sophomore Forward Antanique Williams grabbed 10 rebounds.  

In the win, The Lady Golden Eagles were led by Laura Cohen with 27pts. Three other Saint Joseph's College of Long Island student-athletes scored in double digits including Christina Cohen with 23pts, Danielle Hamlin 20pts, and Katie McGarrell with 10pts.

The Cougars will rest and regroup for the 2014-15 season. There were a few accomplishments this season including Sophomore Guard Nia Tompkins, tying a 3pt Field Goal record in a CUNYAC Match, and Freshman Forward/Center Kimonia Mullings was named CUNYAC/Con Edison Rookie of the Week, back in early November.
