Box Score Brooklyn, NY- The Medgar Evers College Women's Basketball team fell to the York College Cardinals 55-28 earlier tonight. The Cardinals improve to 3-19 Overall and 2-11 CUNYAC, while the Cougars drop to 2-18 Overall and 0-12 CUNYAC.
The game started off very slow, as neither team could find a way to score. York led 3-0 before the Cougars went on a 5-0 run, to take a 5-3 lead with 13:12 left in the 1st half. The lead would trade sides before York grabbed it for good. York went on a 3-0 run, which gave them a 10-7 lead with 8:41 left in the half. In the loss, the Cougars were led by Sophomore Guard and Co-Captain
Nia Tompkins with 10pts (1-2 FT-FTA), grabbed a game high 14 rebounds (8 defensive). This is also a career high for the Queens, NY native. Tompkins dished out two assists and added four steals. Junior Forward
Kiwelewa Mlimwengu grabbed nine rebounds.
In the win, York was led by Shauncia McClendon with 12pts.Angelika Ruggiano added a game high 11 assists.
The Cougars will be back in action on Tuesday February 11, 2014, when they take on the Baruch College Bearcats. The game gets underway at 6pm.
