WOMEN'S BASKETBALL FALLS TO YORK IN CONFERENCE PLAY

Box Score JAMAICA, NY- The Women's Basketball fell to the York College Cardinals 66-33 earlier tonight. The Cardinals improve to 5-11, 3-6 CUNYAC, while the Cougars drop to 1-16, 0-9 CUNYAC.

York led wire to wire. The Cougars shot 19% from the field, 13% from 3pt. range, and 30% from the free throw line. 

In the loss, the Cougars were led by a trio of student-athletes: Junior Guard Nia Tompkins and Sophomore Guard Ashley Desir, and Freshman Fortunate Ekwuruke each with seven points apiece. Sophomore Kimonia Mullings led the game with 15 rebounds.  In the win, York was led by Nia Rene with 15pts. Three other York athletes scored in double-figures including the following: Tamika Taylor (12pts), Angelika Ruggiano (11pts), and Samantha Bond (10pts). 

The Cougars will be back in action on Saturday, January. 24, 2015, when they travel to the Bronx, NY, and take on the Lehman College Lightning. Game time is 12:00 pm.
