BROOKLYN, N.Y. – After a conference loss to close last week, the Medgar Evers women's basketball looks to right the ship when they face off with CUNYAC opponent York (N.Y.) in a home game at the Cougars Cave Wednesday night.

The Lady Cougars (1-14, 1-7 CUNYAC) are coming off a 79-60 defeat against the College of Staten Island last Friday. In the loss, Nia Tompkins (Queens, N.Y.) led the team with 20 points, including six three-pointers, along with eight boards and three steals. Danyelle Foster (Brooklyn, N.Y.) secured her eighth double-double, tallying 19 points and corralling 16 rebounds, while Elesha Dieudonne (Brooklyn, N.Y.) grabbed 12 rebounds with nine points.

Foster averages 16.6 points per game to lead the team, which is sixth in the conference, and fourth in the CUNYAC with 12.6 rebounds per contest. In her first three games with the team, Dieudonne has tallied two double-doubles and averages 14.3 points and 12.3 boards.

Tompkins ranks in the CUNYAC top-20 with 11.5 points per contest, and paces the squad with 39 three-pointers on the season (fourth in CUNYAC), while Kimonia Mullings (Queens, N.Y.) is fifth in the conference with 10.6 rebounds with 8.8 points per game.

They will be a facing a Cardinals team (3-13, 1-7 CUNYAC) who are looking to avoid a three-game losing streak, after back-to-back losses against John Jay and Staten Island last week. York is led on the glass by Jigcara Grant, who is the premier rebounder in the country with 17.9 rebounds per game, which is the top in all of NCAA Division-III.

Angelika Ruggiano is the offensive leader, pouring in 14.8 points per game, which ranks in the conference top-10. Samantha Bond scores the second-highest on the team with 13.9 points per game.
