Box Score BROOKLYN, N.Y. – Despite two players with double-doubles after building a double-digit lead in the second half, the Medgar Evers men's basketball team failed to hold on to their lead in a 79-77 loss to Lehman College in CUNYAC play Friday night at the Cougars Cave.
Matthew Lee (Bloomfield, N.J.) continued to lead the Cougars (7-12, 4-6 CUNYAC) by tallying his fifth double-double on the season, scoring 24 points along with 11 rebounds and five steals. They also got a double-double from
Markus Kearney Jr. (Brooklyn, N.Y.), adding 15 points and corralling 11 boards.
Justin Sutton (Brooklyn, N.Y.) also poured in 15 points, while

Olusegun Williams added 17 points with 10 boards, while Andrew Utate hit four three pointers as part of a 14-point performance. John Brens also chipped in with 15 points, four rebounds and a team-high four assists.
The first half saw the Lightning build up a double-digit lead at 26-15 with 8:51 left in the half. However, the Cougars would chip away at the deficit as they went into halftime trailing by one at 38-37. Medgar Evers would score nine of the first 12 points in the second half, including threes from Lee and Sutton. They continued with a 10-2 run, including six straight points from Sutton, to move ahead 58-44 with 13:57 left in the second.
Lehman would rally back into the game, paced by a technical foul which had a four-point swing on one possession, which cut into the Medgar Evers lead. The two would trade baskets deep into the stanza, and would be tied at 77 apiece with 16 seconds remaining. Minott's floater in the lane connected to put the Lightning up two points. Lee's desperation three-point attempt was blocked as time expired.
The Cougars will seek to snap their losing streak when they go on the road to face CUNYAC foe Baruch College next Saturday as part of a doubleheader with the women's team. Tip time is set for 6:30 p.m.
