Box Score BROOKLYN, N.Y. – Despite a valiant effort throughout the contest, the Medgar Evers women's basketball team fell to non-conference opponent College of Old Westbury, 85-72, Tuesday night at the Cougars Cave.
For the Lady Cougars (1-17),
Elesha Dieudonne (Brooklyn, N.Y.) posted a double-double in a losing effort with 14 points and 11 rebounds, while
Danyelle Foster (Brooklyn, N.Y.) poured in 16 points with eight rebounds and five steals.
Nia Tompkins (Queens, N.Y.) hit five three-pointers in a 17-point performance and
Kimonia Mullings (Flushing, N.Y.) corralled a team-high 13 boards.
Jasmine Robinson led the way for the Panthers (15-3), with 23 points, eight assists and six steals in the win. Crystal Barnes tallied a double-double (14 points, 18 rebounds) along with five blocks, and Raven Pentz chipped in with 10 points, eight helpers and four boards.
Old Westbury dominated down low, earning a 46-16 edge on points in the paint and poured in 24 points off 24 Lady Cougar turnovers. Medgar Evers shot just 33.8% from the field, but totaled 10 out of 23 three-point attempts for a 43.5% clip from beyond the arc.
