Box Score Women's Basketball Drops Season Opener 70-36
(Patchogue, N.Y.) – The Medgar Evers women's basketball team opened their 2016-17 season on the road against the Golden Eagles of St. Joseph's College (N.Y.) in a non-conference matchup. St. Joseph's got out to an early lead in route to a 70-36 victory.
The Golden Eagles were lights out from deep knocking down 16-31 threes. The Lady Cougars struggled offensively shooting just 12-58 on the night and 2-18 from deep. Medgar Evers was led by senior
Elesha Dieudonne (Brooklyn, N.Y.) scoring a team-high 17 points and a team-high 13 rebounds. Sophomore guard
Janaisha Carrington (Brooklyn, N.Y.) added 10 points for the Lady Cougars.
Jackie Zizzo of St. Joseph's had a game-high 20 points on 7-11 shooting including six threes.
With the loss Medgar Evers falls to 0-1 for the year while St. Joseph's improves to 1-0. The women's basketball team is back in action Thursday, November 17
th when they travel to New Haven, Conn. to take on Albertus Magnus at 7 p.m.
