Box Score Women's Basketball Falls 76-55 in Nonconference Game at Albertus Magnus
(NEW HAVEN, CONN.) – The Medgar Evers women's basketball team visited the Falcons of Albertus Magnus College in a non-conference matchup. Albertus Magnus got out to a fast start leading 26-1 after the first quarter. The Lady Cougars struggled offensively on the night. They shot just 12% on 3-24 shooting in the first half and went into halftime down 49-15. The turnovers were a huge issue for Medgar Evers as they turned it over 29 times on the night leading to 32 points for the Falcons.
The second half was much better scoring wise but the deficit was too great to overcome. Although Medgar Evers outscored their opponent by 13 points in the second half they still were only able to cut the lead to 21. Eventually losing by a final score of 76-55. Senior guard
Elesha Dieudonne (Brooklyn, N.Y.) led the way for the Lady Cougars posting her second straight double-double. Dieudonne scored 27 points on 10 of 24 shooting, also grabbing 10 rebounds and recording five steals. No other players scored in double figures. Albertus Magnus had a balanced scoring attack led by
Olivia Bolden who had a team-high 15 points to go along with nine rebounds.
With the loss Medgar Evers falls to 0-2 on the season while Albertus Magnus improves to 2-0. The women's basketball team is back in action Saturday, November 19
th when they host Cedar Crest College for the 2016-17 home opener at 2 p.m.
