Box Score Women's Basketball Cannot Complete the Comeback as they Fall Short 64-55 to York
(BROOKLYN, N.Y.) – Medgar Evers women's basketball hosted conference rival York College for a CUNYAC matchup at the Cougars' Cave on Tuesday night. The Cougars' could not complete the comeback as they were defeated 64-55. With the loss, Medgar Evers falls to 0-7 (0-2 CUNYAC) while York improves to 1-6 (1-2) on the year.
Overall it was a very sloppy game for both teams but in the end someone had to win. Both teams had at least 30 turnovers with Medgar Evers having almost 40. Even with all the turnovers the Cougars still had an opportunity to win cutting it to as close as four in the final minutes of the fourth quarter. It was also a rough shooting night as the Cougars shot just 18-55 (33%) while hitting just one of their 12 three point attempts. They tried to mount a comeback but costly turnovers proved to be the difference.
Senior guard
Elesha Dieudonne's (Brooklyn, N.Y.) was the leading scorer for the Cougars' tallying 15 points and 11 rebounds. Sophomore forward
Cyndi White (Brooklyn, N.Y.) added 12 points off the bench while senior forward
Kimonia Mullings (Queens, N.Y.) had 10 of her own.
York was led by
Evanda Redwood who recored 19 points to go along with 3 assists. Women's basketball is back in action Thursday, December 8
th when they host the Merchant Marine Academy at the Cougars' Cave beginning at 7 p.m.
