Box Score Women's Basketball Falls 67-44 to Merchant Marine in Nonconference Matchup
 
(BROOKLYN, N.Y.) – Medgar Evers women's basketball hosted the United States Merchant Marine Academy for a non-conference matchup on Thursday night. Merchant Marine pulled away in the second half defeating the Lady Cougars 67-44. With the loss, Medgar Evers falls to 0-8 while Merchant Marine improves to 4-2 on the year.
 
            In the first half Medgar Evers hung around trailing by nine points going into halftime. The second half they managed to make just six shots going 6-22 (27%). The Merchant Marine depth was too much as they wore down the Lady Cougars and pulled away.
 
Senior guard Elesha Dieudonne's (Brooklyn, N.Y.) was the leading scorer for the Cougars' tallying 15 points and seven rebounds. Sophomore guard Janaisha Carrington (Brooklyn, N.Y.) added 14 points and five assists.
 
Merchant Marine had a balanced attack on the night. Their leading scorer was Shelby Peters who scored 12 points. Women's basketball is back in action tomorrow Friday, December 9^th when they visit conference rival Baruch College. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.
