Box Score BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The Medgar Evers women's basketball fell behind quickly in the first quarter, and failed to get back in the game as CUNYAC opponent Brooklyn College defeated them, 66-45, Friday night as part of "The Battle for Bedford Avenue" at the Cougars Cave.
The Lady Cougars (2-22, 2-13 CUNYAC) were led in defeat by senior
Nia Tompkins (Queens, N.Y.), who totaled 22 points, including five three-pointers. She also added six steals and five rebounds in a losing effort.
Danyelle Foster (Brooklyn, N.Y.) added nine points with a team-high 14 rebounds, while
Kimonia Mullings (Queens, N.Y.) added six points and 11 boards.
Janaisha Carrington (Brooklyn, N.Y.) dished out a team-best four assists.
Karen Mak paced the Bulldogs (17-7, 12-3 CUNYAC) with 19 points, six assists, four rebounds and four steals in the win. Olivia Colbert secured a double-double with 16 points and 15 boards as Brooklyn earned the victory.
Medgar Evers was held to just 26.2% shooting from the field throughout the game as the Bulldogs led wire-to-wire as they burst out to a 29-10 lead after one quarter and never looked back. Brooklyn also forced 27 Lady Cougar turnovers, which they turned into 21 points. They also earned a 52-44 edge on the rebounding end.
