BROOKLYN, N.Y. -- After a strong six-game winning streak that included all conference games, the Medgar Evers men's basketball team earned the number four seed as the CUNYAC Championships presented by Army ROTC approaches this weekend.
The Cougars (13-12, 10-6 CUNYAC) had a strong season with a ten-win improvement from last season. They were led this season by senior transferÂ
Matthew Lee (Bloomfield, N.J.), who has the been the conference's leading scorer all season with 29.2 points per game with 12 games of 30-plus points. He then set a CUNYAC record 50 points in a win over Baruch College.
Medgar Evers will await the winner of the #5 Baruch/#8 Hunter in the second round of the Championships tournament. In their last meetings, the Cougars defeated the Bearcats 98-83 January 31st on the road and then beat the Hawks 75-60 February 2nd. They won all four matchups this season against both opponents.
