Box Score Lady Cougars Lose 62-54 to Conference Rival York

(JAMAICA, N.Y.) – Medgar Evers women's basketball visited the Cardinals of York College for a CUNYAC matchup on Friday night at the York College Gym. The Lady Cougars had a tough shooting night in route to a 62-54 loss. With the loss, Medgar Evers falls to 1-16 (1-8 CUNYAC) while York improves to 2-16 (2-8).

In the first half Medgar Evers trailed going into halftime down 30-21. The Lady Cougars went on a stretch of 10 missed shots in a row from the end of the first quarter into the second. Five players each scored four points in the first half and as a team Medgar Evers went 7-31 (23%) from the floor.

In the second half it was the dynamic duo of senior guard
Elesha Dieudonne (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and sophomore forward
Cyndi Whyte (Brooklyn, N.Y.) that led the comeback scoring a combined 22 points of the team's 33 in the second half. York would pull away to take the victory despite having three players foul out and playing with only four players with four minutes left in the game.

Dieudonne led the Lady Cougars with 16 points, eight rebounds and grabbed two steals. Whyte scored 14 points while grabbing seven boards. Sophomore forward
Chanelle Perry (Manhattan, N.Y.) grabbed herself a career-high 13 rebounds in the loss.
