Box Score Lady Cougars Fall to Valley Forge 79-54 in Non-Conference Matchup at the Cave

(BROOKLYN, N.Y.) – Medgar Evers women's basketball hosted the Patriots of Valley Forge at the Cougars' Cave in a non-conference matchup Sunday afternoon. The Lady Cougars battled hard in the first half but could not keep pace in the second half eventually losing 79-54. With the loss, Medgar Evers falls to 1-17 while Valley Forge improves to 13-2 on the season.

In the first half Valley Forge shot the ball well at 44% while the Lady Cougars went just 10-32 (31%) from the floor. Medgar Evers was able to outrebound the Patriots 29-17 in the first half but still trailed by eight. They still turned the ball over to many times leading to Valley Forge scoring 11 points off the Lady Cougars' 15 turnovers. Â

In the third quarter Valley Forge extended what was already an eight point lead into a 14 point lead going into the final quarter. Valley Forge did not let up one bit as they poured it on the fourth quarter outscoring the Lady Cougars 18-7.

Medgar Evers was led by senior guard
Elesha Dieudonne (Brooklyn, N.Y.) who scored 18 points on while grabbing 12 boards including six offensive. She also had a game-high five steals marking the fifth game this year where she had at least five or more steals. Sophomore forward
Chanelle Perry (Manhattan, N.Y.) recorded a double-double with a career-high 12 points and 11 boards, her second double-double of the year.

Morgan Edge who scored a game-high 25 points. Women's basketball is back in action Wednesday, January 25th when they host Brooklyn in a CUNYAC matchup beginning at 6 p.m.Â
