(BROOKLYN, N.Y.) – Medgar Evers women's basketball hosted the Bulldogs of Brooklyn College in the "Battle for Bedford Ave" at the Cougars' Cave on Wednesday night. The Lady Cougars fell behind early trailing by 24 after just one quarter. Brooklyn would pull away for a 95-47 victory. With the loss, Medgar Evers falls to 1-18 (1-9 CUNYAC) while Brooklyn improves to 13-4 (9-2) on the year.
 
Medgar Evers fell behind quickly as Brooklyn opened the game on a 10-0 run and led 31-7 after one quarter. The Lady Cougars had more turnovers than shot attempts in the first half turning the ball over 20 times. As a team in the first half Medgar Evers went 4-15 (27%). They did shoot well at the line going 16-19 (84%) but still trailed by 33 points.
 
The Lady Cougars could not find the answers to slow Brooklyn down as they poured it on in the third quarter pushing the lead to as many as 50 points. Medgar Evers was led by senior guard Elesha Dieudonne (Brooklyn, N.Y.) who had 21 points and nine rebounds to go along with two steals. No other players scored in double figures.
 
Brooklyn was led by Karen Mak who scored 18 points on the night. Women's basketball is back in action Friday, January 27th when they host Hunter in a CUNYAC matchup beginning at 6 p.m.
