Box Score Women's Basketball Crushed 75-44 by Staten Island
(STATEN ISLAND, N.Y.) – Medgar Evers women's basketball visited the Dolphins of Staten Island in a CUNYAC matchup on Tuesday night. The Lady Cougars struggled with turnovers the whole night losing by a final score of 75-44. With the loss, Medgar Evers falls to 1-20 (1-11 CUNYAC) while Staten Island improves to 18-4 (12-1) on the year.
The Lady Cougars fell behind fast due to eight turnovers in the first five minutes. Staten Island was up 10-0 when Medgar Evers scored their first bucket. As a team they turned it over 16 times in just the first quarter leading to a deficit of 18 points. As a team the Lady Cougars shot 8-26 (31%) in the first half, simply not enough to keep up with Staten Island.
The second half was more of the same for Medgar Evers. Lots of turnovers and missed shots. Staten Island slowed it down offensively but the Lady Cougars could not find a way to make a comeback. Medgar Evers was led by sophomore forward
Cyndi Whyte (Brooklyn, N.Y.) who scored a team-high 14 points. Senior guard
Elesha Dieudonne (Brooklyn, N.Y.) added 13 points to go along with 20 rebounds, one shy of her career high. This gives Dieudonne her 15
th double-double of the season, which leads the conference.
