Men's Soccer Ends Their Losing Streak and Wins Against CCNY

The Medgar Evers Men's Soccer team was in action Saturday morning as they faced conference rival City College of New York and won the game 5-3 to end their nine game losing streak.Â
The Cougars were able to score five goals past the Beavers' defense in today's match. The Cougars scored two goals in the first half and three goals in the second half. Cougars had a total of twenty nine shots in the match, fourteen shots in the first half and fifteen shots in the second half.Â
The first goal was scored by Senior Patrick Gentles (Portmore, Jamaica) in the third minute off a free kick. Gentles also had two other shots in the match. The second goal was scored by Sophomore Skyvinsky Fils (Leogane / Haiti) in the twenty third minute. The half time score was two to one with the Cougars in the lead. The third goal was scored by Freshman Abdul Edwards (Georgetown / Guyana) assisted by Freshman Randy Urgiles (New York) in the 65th minute. The fourth goal was scored by Sophomore Voshawn Juba (Point-Fortin / Trinidad) in the 74th minute. The fifth goal was scored by Sophomore Darrell Ambersley (Portmore / Jamaica) in the 86th minute off a free kick. Freshman goalkeeper James Hyacinthe (Aquin / Haiti) had a total of seven saves in three goal attempts, three saves in the first half and four saves in the second half.Â
Medgar Evers (2-11, 1-5) will return to the field on Monday, October 9th for a home game versus St. Joseph's College at 5:00pm in Brooklyn, NY at Aviator Sports Complex.
