Cougars Fall to Oswego State in First Round of Max Ziel WBB Tournament

The Cougars' women's' basketball team played in their first away game against Oswego State as part of the Max Ziel Women's Basketball Tournament hosted by Oswego on Friday night at 7:30pm. The Cougars couldn't capitalize on their first away game as they drop the match by a score of 27-66.

The Cougars had two players in double figures as both freshman guard Malecka Davis (Brooklyn, NY) and junior center Cyndi Whyte (Brooklyn, N.Y.) scored 10 points. Freshman center Monicha Jean-Pierre (Brooklyn, NY) led the Cougars in rebounds with 7. As a team, the Cougars collected 38 rebounds. Davis also had three steals which tied the team high for the game with freshman guard Jo-Ann Elliott (Brooklyn, NY).

For the Lakers, Ameele finished with a game-high 15 points while Fish was also in double-figures with 13. Windhausen and Encarnacion each recorded nine points while Zimmerman added seven.

The Lady Cougars look to bounce back from their first loss on their away game schedule as the Max Ziel Women's Basketball Tournament continues tomorrow at 2:00pm when Medgar Evers face Keystone College for the consolation game.
