Buzzer-Beater by #3 Justin Sutton Gives Cougars First Win Of The Season

On Wednesday night, the Cougars traveled to Old Westbury for their second away game of the season. Cougars came on top to win the game off a clutch assist by Freshman Point Guard Darrell Spaulding (Harlem, NY) and a buzzer-beater shot by Junior Guard Justin Sutton (Brooklyn, N.Y.) to win their first game of the season 79-77.Â
The Cougars had four players score in double figures with Junior Guard Justin Sutton leading the way in scoring with 24 points and also played a great overall game recording seven rebounds, seven steals (which was the team high) and four assist in 38 minutes of play. Right behind him in scoring was Senior Guard Maurice Swaby II (Brooklyn, N.Y.) with 22 points and also played a great overall game with nine rebounds (which was the team high), two blocks (which was the team high) and five steals in 37 minutes of play. Reigning CUNYAC MBB Rookie of the Week Freshman Small Forward Basheeru Camara (Bronx, NY) scored thirteen points with six rebounds in 33 minutes of play. Sophomore Power Forward Hassan Jones (Harlem, NY) scored twelve points in the match. Freshman Point Guard Darrell Spaulding had a team high in assist with five with the most important assist coming off the buzzer-beater shot by Sutton.Â
For the Panthers, #25 Alan McDonald had 22 points and was perfect on the free throw line going 9-9.Â
The Cougars look forward to start a winning streak by returning home on Saturday, December 2nd at 1:00pm to challenge New York University.Â
