Box Score Women's Basketball Runs out of Steam, Falls 76-56 to Baruch on Senior Night
 
(BROOKLYN, N.Y.) - Medgar Evers women's basketball hosted the Bearcats of Baruch College on senior night in a CUNYAC matchup at the Cougars Cave on Friday night. The Lady Cougars were not able to make a comeback losing by a final score of 76-56. With the loss, Medgar Evers falls to 1-23 (1-14 CUNYAC) while Baruch improves to 11-12 (10-4) on the year.
 
The first quarter was very competitive as both teams were playing great defense making it difficult to score. The Bearcats had a three point lead after one quarter.  The second quarter was more of the same as both teams kept high energy on the defensive end. Baruch was able to extend the lead by getting easy buckets off of turnovers putting them up 31-23 at the half. Medgar Evers did not shoot well going 10-40 (25%) in the first half. They were able to stay in the game thanks in part to their 31 rebounds including 12 offensive boards.
 
Baruch began to pull away in the third quarter thanks to a 9-2 run to start the second half. Medgar Evers hurt themselves by turning the ball over nine times as Baruch pushed its once eight point lead to 22. Medgar Evers came out firing starting the fourth on a 14-5 run. The Bearcats played well down the stretch to halt a comeback from Medgar Evers.
 
Medgar Evers was led by the senior duo Elesha Dieudonne (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Kimonia Mullings (Queens, N.Y.) as they both recorded double doubles. It was Dieudonne's 18^th double-double on the year scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds. Mullings recorded her 5^th double on the season scoring 12 points and a game-high 18 rebounds. Baruch was led by Veronica Ganzi who scored a game-high 32 points. Women's basketball returns to action Monday, February 13^th when they visit CCNY in a CUNYAC matchup beginning at 5 p.m.
