Cougars Wins Their First Conference Match Against BaruchÂ

The Cougars' men's basketball team played in their third conference matchup of the season versus Baruch College on Wednesday night at 7:00pm. The Cougars won the match by a score of 69-65 with a game leading three pointer by Senior Guard Maurice Swaby II (Brooklyn, N.Y.) with five seconds left on the clock.
Sophomore Guard Joancarlo Bonilla (Woodside, N.Y.) led all scorers with 28 points shooting 53% from the field including three three-pointers and also went 9-12 on the free throw line in 40 minutes of play. Senior Guard Maurice Swaby II (Brooklyn, N.Y.) also scored in double digits having 21 points shooting three three-pointers including the game leading shot with 5 seconds left on the clock and also went 6-6 on the free throw line. Swaby also contributed with five rebounds and a game high in assist with five. Freshman Small Forward Basheeru Camara (Bronx, NY) came up short of a double-double with 9 points and a game high twelve rebounds. Cougars led in the match for 34 mins long and their largest lead was twelve.Â
For the Bearcats, Chimaechi Ekekeugbor led his team by posting a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds.
Cougars continue their conference play this week by playing away to go against conference rival Brooklyn College on Friday, January 5th at 7:15pm.Â
