The Medgar Evers College women's basketball team faced off against the United States Merchant Marine Academy at the Cougars Cave in Brooklyn, NY, on Sunday, December 2.
The Cougars (0-8) fell to the Mariners (4-0) by a final score of 74-37.
MEC rallied in the second half after trailing 50-16 at the break, and outscored the undefeated Merchant Marines 12-6 in the fourth quarter, after two Cougar starters -
Destiny Simmons and
Janaisha Carrington - left the game with similar-looking ankle injuries.
Jessycca Myers led the black-and-gold with 18 points and added nine rebounds (six offensive), two blocks and two steals. Freshman
Britiny McIntosh grabbed 16 rebounds (seven offensive) and also contributed eight points on four-of-eight shooting from the field.
The squad returns to action next Tuesday, December 4, for a CUNYAC matchup on the road against Lehman College in the Bronx, NY. Tip-off will be at 5:00 pm.
