The Medgar Evers College men's basketball team played a CUNYAC road contest against Lehman College in the Bronx, NY, on Tuesday, December 4.
The Cougars (2-6, 1-1 CUNYAC) fell to the Lightning (3-3, 1-1) by a final score of 84-76.
The contest was evenly matched from the start, as the teams were tied at 27 midway through the first half. However, Lehman went on a 23-9 run to close the half and MEC entered the locker room down by 14. The black-and gold fought back in the second half and closed the deficit to 2 (70-68) with six minutes left, but the Lightning were able to hold onto the lead for the remainder of the game.
Free-throw shooting and three-point shooting seemed to be the difference in the extremely close contest. Medgar Evers shot 19-30 from the line and 3-18 from beyond the arc, while Lehman was 28-37 from the line and 4-14 from deep.
Sean Webb led all scorers with 22 points and added three steals and three rebounds, while
Justin Sutton contributed 15 points, eight rebounds, four assists, and four steals.
The Cougars will have the chance to regroup and get another win in conference play this Friday, December 7, when they take on the College of Staten Island at home. Tip-off will be at 8 pm.
