The Medgar Evers College men's basketball team played a road CUNYAC contest against the College of Staten Island in Staten Island, NY, on Saturday, January 26.
The Cougars (7-12, 6-5 CUNYAC) fell to the Dolphins (13-7, 9-2) by a final score of 85-68.
The Cougars trailed for most of the first half and were down by as much as 13, but they fought back and they faced a 52-42 deficit at halftime.
In the second half, both teams struggled to hit shots and score at the same rate as the first half, with Medgar shooting only 9-of-35 from the floor in the second half, compared to 16-39 in the first half. The slow pace made it tough for MEC to catch up and CSI led by at least six points the entire second half.
Juston Sutton led all scorers with 31 points and added six steals, while
Joancarlo Bonilla added 12.
The Cougars return to action on Tuesday, January 29, for a home contest against Baruch College at 8 pm.
