The Medgar Evers College women's basketball team faced off against the City College of New York at the Cougars Cave in Brooklyn, NY, on Thursday, January 3.
The Cougars (0-12, 0-4 CUNYAC) fell to the Beavers (6-2, 3-1) by a final score of 78-45.
After finding themselves down 31-11 with around six minutes left in the second quarter, the Cougars clawed back with a 20-4 run to reduce the black-and-gold deficit to just four points late in the second quarter and the score was 40-31 at halftime.
However, CCNY ran away with the contest in the second half, with the Beavers' Crystal Blair recording a double-double of 12 points and 10 assists in the second half alone.
Cyndi Whyte enjoyed a successful return to action with a game-high 18 points and added six rebounds and two blocks.
Janaisha Carrington posted 10 points, while
Jessycca Myers contributed eight points and six rebounds.
Destiny Simmons and Carrington each added four assists on a successful passing night for the Cougars where they assisted on 11 of 16 field goals.
The Cougars return to action on Saturday, December 5 at 12 pm for a road contest against CUNYAC-foe Baruch College in New York, NY.
