Men's Basketball Takes On Baruch in CUNYAC Game

Sinera double-double silver lining in 81-59 defeat to Bearcats

Box Score

The Medgar Evers College men's basketball team played a CUNYAC game at Baruch College in New York, NY, on January 5, 2019.

The Cougars (3-10, 2-3 CUNYAC) fell to the Bearcats (10-3, 4-0) by a final score of 81-59.

Medgar immediately fell behind 11-0 and Baruch completely stifled the black-and-gold offense in the first half. MEC was held to just 9-33 (27.2%) on field goals while the Bearcats shot 18-31 (58.1%) from the floor themselves. The Cougars entered halftime down 42-24.

Medgar Evers' performance improved noticeably in the second half, with Mousa Sinera coming one point short of a double-double in the second period alone. However, the Cougar deficit never reached fewer than 14 points for the remainder of the game.

Sinera finished with a double-double of 10 points and 16 rebounds while adding three steals. Justin Sutton led MEC with 18 points while Sean Webb contributed 16.

The Cougars return to action on Monday, January 7, for another road CUNYAC contest at John Jay College.
