Men's Soccer Drops Baruch Contest

BROOKLYN, NY - The Medgar Evers College men's soccer team hosted Baruch College for a CUNY Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) match at Aviator Field on Saturday, September 28.

The Cougars fell to the Bearcats by a final score of 2-0.

This was quite an evenly-matched contest, with Baruch producing 16 shots and four on target compared to Medgar's 10 shots and five on target.

Ibrahima Beye of MEC looked to have broken the deadlock early on, finding the back of the net from outside the penalty box, but he was judged to have been offsides and the goal was ruled out.

Eight minutes before halftime, Baruch scored putting the Cougars down 1-0. The Cougars kept fighting but struggled to create definite chances. Still, the defense held strong and kept the score at 1-0 until the 85th minute when Baruch scored again to finish the match.

Beye led Medgar with four shots, while Darrell Ambersley and Adeyemi Adeniyi each recorded three. Carl-Henry Obeissant finished with two saves. The Cougars unfortunately have not been able to score a goal since their 3-0 win over St. Joseph's - Brooklyn on September 11, which was the third of three consecutive matches in which the black-and-gold scored.

Hopefully the team will find their scoring touch in time for their road CUNYAC contest against CCNY on Wednesday, October 2, at 7 pm at Randall's Island Field 70.
