BROOKLYN, NY - The Medgar Evers College women's and men's soccer teams played CUNYAC matches on Wednesday, October 16, at Aviator Field.
The weather on Wednesday consisted of torrential rain and powerful winds, yet the Cougars still fought through the conditions to play their game.
The women's team played against York in a road contest hosted by the Cardinals. Despite the best efforts of the Cougar defense and
Dana Barbara Jecrois in goal with 11 saves, the black-and-gold still were unable to prevail against their conference opponents.
The team will face York again in their season finale, a home contest at Aviator on Saturday, October 26, at 4:30 pm. This will represent the 46th and final career match for defender
Tasheka James, the lone senior on the squad.
On the men's side, the Cougars took on Brooklyn College in a competitive contest. Goalkeeper
James Hyacinthe recorded eight saves and
Darrell Ambersley scored a beautiful free kick goal which curved and dipped over the Bulldog goalkeeper.
Despite recording seven total shots, the Cougars nevertheless fell by a final score of 3-1.Â
The team will return to action on Saturday, October 19, when they take on CUNYAC foes Hunter College at Randall's Island Field 10 at 3 pm.
