BROOKLYN, NY - The Medgar Evers College women's basketball team competed against Wentworth Institute of Technology on Sunday, November 17. 

The Cougars fell to the Leopards by a final score of 79-64.

Wentworth jumped out to an early 12-6 advantage, but the Cougars showed their toughness and fought back to lead 19-18 after the first quarter.

The second quarter was a fun 10 minutes of offensive basketball, with each team scoring 21 points in the quarter. Medgar took a five-point lead after a Vanessa Zambrano three-pointer. The score was 40-39 to the black and gold at halftime.

The third quarter was rough for the Cougars, who were outscored 23-9 over the ten minutes as Wentworth took a 62-49 lead heading into the fourth. The fourth quarter was close, but the Cougar deficit never fell below nine points.

Shae-Quana Brathwaite led the Cougars with an efficient 20 points on 6-10 shooting and hitting two of three three-point attempts, adding four rebounds and two assists. Cyndi Whyte totaled 13 points and seven rebounds, while Zambrano finished with seven points, eight rebounds and four assists.

The Cougars return to action on Saturday, November 23, when the team travels to Washington, D.C. to take on Trinity Washington University at 2 pm.
