Women's Basketball Takes on CCNY on the Road

Cougars fall 68-47 despite monster performance from Myers

The Medgar Evers College women's basketball team played a road CUNYAC game against CCNY in New York, NY, on Friday, February 2.

The Cougars (1-21, 1-12 CUNYAC) fell to the Beavers (13-8, 8-4) by a final score of 68-47.

The first half was very rough for MEC, particularly the second quarter during which CCNY outscored Medgar 23-to-five. Despite trailing 45-14 at halftime, the Cougars responded with an explosive third quarter, outscoring the Beavers 26-to-eight behind 15 Jessycca Myers points.

Unfortunately, CCNY was able to withstand the Cougar rally in the fourth quarter and closed out the victory.

Myers finished with 30 points, the most by any Medgar women's player this season. She was 11-of-13 from the field and also added a team-high eight rebounds as well as three steals. Cyndi Whyte finished with eight points and five rebounds, while Destiny Simmons and Janaisha Carrington each tallied seven rebounds.

The team returns to action on Tuesday, February 5, at 6 pm for a home CUNYAC matchup against John Jay College at the Cougars Cave.
