Box Score The Medgar Evers College women's basketball team played a road CUNYAC game against York College in Jamaica, NY, on Monday, February 11.
The Cougars (1-23, 1-14 CUNYAC) fell to the Cardinals (5-20, 4-12) by a final score of 71-58.
The first quarter was extremely close as both teams held the lead at different points, but York held a 14-13 advantage after the period. The second quarter was much the same, with both teams trading stops and buckets and neither team held more than a three-point lead, and York maintained a 29-26 lead at the intermission.
Cyndi Whyte scored half of the Cougars' 26 first-half points, while MEC outshot York 43% to 33%.
However, in the third quarter, York immediately opened up an 11-point lead. The Cougars clawed back to within two points (47-45), but the Cardinals extended their lead back to 10 points by the end of the third quarter as York's Ellma Hodzic began to take over the game.
MEC was down by 20 with seven minutes left before the Cougars roared back with a 13-0 run over the next 4:23 to stay within contention until the end of the game.
Whyte led MEC with 22 points and added five rebounds and three steals.

Khalia Sprattley (11/6 reb/3-5 3pm) and
Janaisha Carrington (10/6 reb/5 ast/2 blk) joined Whyte in double figures.
The Cougars close out their 2018-19 season at home against Brooklyn College on Wednesday, February 13, at 6 pm at the Cougars Cave.
