Men's Basketball Drops Lehman Contest

BRONX, NY - The Medgar Evers College men's basketball team played a road CUNY Athletic Conference game at Lehman College on Saturday, January 25.

The Cougars (5-12, 2-6 CUNYAC) fell to the Lightning (11-7, 6-2) by a final score of 83-70.

The first half was very low-scoring, and Medgar had their best defensive half of the season, allowing just 28 Lightning points. At halftime, Medgar held a 29-28 lead, helped by 16 Mousa Sinera points on 7-of-11 shooting.

The teams traded the lead in the early part of the second half as neither team could grab control of the game. Lehman went on a 9-0 run with about eight minutes to go, and by the end of the run Medgar was down 67-56 with just under seven minutes to go. Keison McIntosh replied with a three pointer, but the Cougars could not cut the lead below eight points for the rest of the game.

Sinera led the way for Medgar with 27 points and11 rebounds, while McIntosh contributed 15 points of his own.

The team returns to action tomorrow night, as they host Brooklyn College for a key CUNYAC game at the Cougars Cave at 8 pm.
