BROOKLYN, NY - The Medgar Evers College women's basketball team hosted CUNY Athletic Conference foes Baruch College at the Cougars Cave on Wednesday, January 9.
The Cougars (1-9, 0-4 CUNYAC) fell to the Bearcats (9-2, 3-1) by a final score of 61-34.
The game started out rough for Medgar, who fell behind 14-4 after the first quarter, struggling to hit shots. However, they bounced back in the second quarter, fighting back to make the score 19-18 with under 30 seconds left in the half after a
Keyara Flowers layup. At halftime, the score was 22-18 Baruch.
Baruch seized control of the game in the third quarter, outscoring Medgar 24-6 in the third quarter, opening up a large lead which the Cougars could not overcome in the fourth.
Cyndi Whyte finished with a double-double of 19 points and 18 rebounds, while
Onella Ireland also contributed 11 boards for the Cougars.
The team returns to action on Friday, January 10, when they host John Jay College for a 6 pm CUNYACÂ contest at the Cougars Cave.
