The Medgar Evers College women's basketball team played two games on Saturday and Sunday, February 1 and 2.
The Cougars fell to the College of Staten Island by a score of 87-29, then defeated Trinity Washington University the next day by a score of 81-16.
Destiny Simmons led Medgar with 12 points against Staten Island, while
Semina Radoncic (12 rebounds) and
Chaniya Daughtry (11 rebounds) commanded the boards.
The game against Trinity was much more successful, as the Cougars jumped out to a whopping 40-2 lead and never looked back.
Radoncic had a career game, posting a triple-double of 12 points, 11 rebounds, and an impressive 15 assists, while
Cyndi Whyte dominated with 39 points and 19 rebounds. Daughtry also posted a double-double with 13 points, 20 rebounds, and 7 blocks.
The Cougars' five wins this season is the most by the team since the 2010-11 season, a nice accomplishment for second-year Head Coach
Benjamin Newberg.
The team returns to action on Tuesday, February 4, for a road CUNYAC contest at Baruch College at 5:30 pm.
