Men's soccer team overmatched in 9-0 loss to USMMA

The Medgar Evers men's soccer team dropped a non-conference match on Monday evening, falling to the Mariners of USMMA-King's Point by a score of 9-0. The contest took place at Bartoszek Field in King's Point, NY. With the defeat, the Cougars slipped to 0-4 on the 2021 campaign, while the Mariners catapulted to a mark of 4-4.

USMMA dominated this one, netting six goals in the opening 45 minutes of action before tacking on three additional tallies in the second half to account for the nine goals. 14 different Mariners registered a point in the convincing victory, with Wesley Cooke leading the charge for his club by accumulating five points (two goals, one assist). Declan Byrne and Aden Knight each scored a goal and compiled a pair of helpers, and six others USMMA players collected two points apiece.

In goal for the Mariners, three goaltenders combined for the shutout without facing a shot on goal. Chase Miller was the goaltender of record, logging 33:20 of action, while Ashton Carey played 34:29 and Carson Bushnell logged 22:11.
