The Medgar Evers men's soccer team dropped a heartbreaker on Wednesday evening, falling to the Bearcats of Baruch College in a CUNYAC contest by a score of 1-0 in double overtime. The contest took place on the No. 10 field at Randall's Island. With the defeat, the Cougars dipped to 0-5 on the 2021 campaign, while Baruch earned its first victory, improving to 1-3.

After 102 hard fought minutes between Baruch and Medgar Evers, Bearcat Jemali Zarnadze finally ended things in the second extra session, receiving a pass from Elijah Smarr before scoring a sudden death goal in the 103rd minute to give his team the victory.

Netminder Carl-Henry Obeissant played very well for the Cougars in net despite the loss, collecting eight saves on the night.

The Bearcats outshot the Cougars 28-6, and Baruch's defense played a big role in helping goalkeeper Kellen Sala earn his first shutout of the season, as he only had to stop two Medgar Evers shots.

Medgar Evers will look to break through for its first victory of the season on Saturday afternoon, as the Cougars will head to Lehman College's South Field for a CUNYAC contest. Start-time is scheduled for 12:00pm.
