Cougars lose home CUNYAC contest to Hunter College in three sets

The Medgar Evers College women's volleyball team lost a CUNYAC match on Tuesday evening, falling to the Hawks of Hunter College by scores of 6-25, 7-25, and 10-25. The match took place at the Cougars Cave in Brooklyn, NY. With the loss, the Cougars slipped to 1-16 on the 2022 campaign (0-6 CUNYAC), while the Hawks improved to 15-5, and stayed unblemished in conference action (6-0 CUNYAC).

Despite the defeat, Medgar Evers was paced by Britonya Lloyd, as she registered a team-high two kills to go along with a pair of digs.

Pacing Hunter College on the evening was Tionna Moss, as she led all players with 10 kills. She also contributed two service aces and a pair of digs. Pearl Mensah added seven kills and a solo block, and Kiara Abreu posted match-bests of 29 assists and seven service aces. Finally, it was Natalie Polanco and Kyrsten Victorio contributing six digs apiece.

Hunter College was efficient all evening, hitting .462 with 33 kills and just nine errors on 52 attack attempts.

Medgar Evers will now have four days off before returning to the court on Sunday afternoon, as the Cougars will travel to the McGrane Gymnasium in Wilkes-Barre, PA to participate in a tri-match. At 12:00pm, Medgar will take on King's College (PA), and that'll be followed by a 2:00pm match against local non-conference foe Yeshiva University.
