Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Louis Caiola makes 14 saves despite Cougars' 2-0 loss to CUNYAC foe Lehman College

The Medgar Evers men's soccer team dropped a CUNYAC contest on Saturday afternoon, falling to the Lightning of Lehman College by a score of 2-0. The match took place at Old Boys High School Field in Brooklyn, NY. With the defeat, the Cougars dipped to 0-9 overall (0-2 CUNYAC). Lehman College improved to 4-3-2 with the victory (2-0 in conference).

After neither squad was able to score in the first half, Lehman College finally broke through in the 55th minute when they capitalized on a corner kick opportunity, as Jimmy Lopez notched a goal (from Mohammad Jagne) to put the Lightning ahead 1-0.

Later, in the 66th minute, Lehman College would build a two goal cushion when Rahaman Abdulhaire received a pass from Mohamed Ali Sogoba and blasted the ball into the net from 20 yards out. That would be the final goal of the afternoon, with the Lightning advancing for the 2-0 victory.

Lightning goaltender Adrian Magana-Santos registered the shutout, only needing to make one save on the afternoon. As a team, Lehman College would only allow one shot. Cougars netminder Louis Caiola, despite allowing the two goals, made 14 saves of the afternoon, putting forth a steller effort between the posts.

Medgar Evers will return to action tomorrow evening, as the team takes to the road for a non-conference match against SUNY Purchase. Start-time is scheduled for 7:00pm.
