Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Stellar effort by Hacket, Cougars defense not enough as CCNY edges Medgar Evers, 1-0

The Medgar Evers men's soccer team lost a heartbreaker on Wednesday evening, falling to CUNYAC foe CCNY by a score of 1-0 at the No. 10 Field at Randall's Island. With the defeat, the Cougars dipped to 0-11 on the season (0-3 CUNYAC). The Beavers registered their first victory of the 2022 campaign, improving to 1-4-1 (1-1 in conference action).

In a match dominated by the defenses, the lone and winning goal of the contest came courtesy of CCNY's Hazim Naji at 12:16 (from Yusuf Abdelmegid and Geovany Oblea).

Beavers netminder Mikhael Torres registered the shutout, only needing to make two saves on the evening, as CCNY held Medgar Evers to just six total shots on the night. Torres' counterpart, the Cougars' Louis Caiola, made three saves and allowed just the one goal, as Medgar Evers' tight defense yielded just eight shots for the extent of the conference clash.

The Cougars will return to action on Saturday afternoon, as Medgar Evers will host John Jay College at Prospect Park Parade Grounds (Field 8) in Brooklyn, NY. Start-time is scheduled for 1:00pm.
