Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Cougars suffer 3-0 defeat to CUNYAC foe John Jay on Saturday

The Medgar Evers men's soccer team dropped a CUNYAC match on Saturday afternoon, falling to the Bloodhounds of John Jay College by a score of 3-0 at the No. 8 Field at Prospect Park's Parade Grounds in Brooklyn, NY. The loss dipped the Cougars to 0-12 on the 2022 campaign (0-4 CUNYAC), while John Jay improved to 4-8 overall, and stayed unblemished in conference action (3-0).

John Jay standout Justin Gharbin provided all of the offense for the visitors, as he registered a hat trick in a dominating effort. His first tally came in the 14th minute, capitalizing on a beautiful pass from Michael Fernandez and burying the ball into the net, past Cougars netminder Louis Caiola, to make it 1-0 Bloodhounds.

Gharbin would strike once again four minutes into the second half, collecting a pass from Junior Guaman before finding paydirt to make it 2-0 John Jay. The sophomore forward capped off his incredible offensive showing by notching a tally in the 66th minute (from Michael Fernandez) to increase his team's goal advantage to three. That would be the final goal scored of the afternoon.

John Jay netminder Tyler Solis registered a shutout, stopping four shots in the process. His counterpart, Medgar Evers' Louis Caiola, made six saves despite
allowing three goals.

The Bloodhounds held a 24-11 advantage in the shots category.

Medgar Evers will return to action on Monday afternoon, as the Cougars will travel to the No. 70 field at Randall's Island to take on Pratt Institute. Start-time is scheduled for 4:00pm.
