Medgar Evers used a modest 5-0 run to slice its deficit to 21 (41-20), but USMMA's Grace Jackson nailed a three point basket with four seconds remaining in the half to put the Mariners ahead 44-20 as the teams headed to their locker rooms at halftime.

USMMA dominated the third quarter, outscoring the hosts 29-7, allowing just three Cougar field goals over 10 minutes. The Mariners took their biggest lead in the fourth, going up by as many as 48, before eventually going on to capture the contest by 44.

The Mariners connected on 45 percent of their attempts from the floor (36-80) compared to a 32.1 percent conversion rate for Medgar Evers (18-56).
