The Medgar Evers women's cross country team continued its impressive 2023 campaign yesterday, competing at the ECAC Championships at the Hudson Valley Sports Dome in Milton, NY. Despite a very challenging 6K meet featuring a plethora of talented runners, the Cougars put forth some hearty efforts, making the most of the experience.

Leading the way for the Cougars was freshman standout Kenia Irish-Bramble. The youngster, fresh off of her third place finish at the CUNYAC championships last weekend, crossed the tape 25^th overall with a time of 29:52.8. A little over three minutes later, Nana Samake finished the 6K course 37^th overall with a time of 32:59.3. Jada Lambert came in 57^th with a time of 37:01.6, and rounding out the Medgar Evers runners who scored were Deja Davis (68^th overall, 43:23.4) and Desireth Ramirez (69^th overall, 49:25.8). Following the meet, Head Coach Hugh Reid gave his thoughts on his runners' performance.

"The women truly put forth a great effort today in the face of some adversity," Reid said. "The ladies dug deep and pushed through this championship course to make history for the institution and the program. You can tell they are hungry for another opportunity to prove that they are forces to be reckoned with. This group ran with tremendous pride, and I'm looking forward to seeing them perform at the NCAA Division III Metro Regional Championships next week."

As mentioned previously in coach Reid's quote, the Cougars will have another chance to put their talents on display again next week, as Medgar Evers will compete in the NCAA Division III Metro Regional Championships in Logan Township, NJ. The women's meet is scheduled to begin at 12:15pm.
