Brianna Lindo earns CUNYAC cross country Rookie of the Week award for second time in 2025

The City University of New York Athletic Conference announced its weekly award winners for the period of Monday, October 13 through Sunday, October 19, and Medgar Evers College was represented by standout Brianna Lindo, as she was tabbed the CUNYAC Rookie of the Week for her tremendous performances at the Lincoln University (PA) Championship Tune-up (10/16) and the Mount Saint Mary College (NY) Fall Festival (10/19). Following the announcement of the award, Head Coach Hugh Reid spoke about Lindo's continued improvement.

"Brianna has been nothing short of phenomenal in her rookie campaign thus far", Reid said. She has been rewriting our record books, and week after week, she courageously battles the top distance runners in the conference. Brianna's relentless work ethic, competitive spirit, and well-rounded talent makes her a standout student-athlete. We are proud that she is playing a big role in making the Cougars a real part of the conversation for this year's championship. In the last two years, we have progressively improved as a team, and Brianna is a great addition to those efforts."

Lindo broke a pair of school records for the Cougars last week. At the Lincoln (Pa.) Championship Tune-Up Thursday, Lindo came in fourth overall with a 4K time of 17:5415. Three days later, she ran a 5K time of 21:46.9 at the Mount Saint Mary Fall Festival to place second overall.

The Cougars' women's cross country squad will return to action on Sunday, as Medgar Evers will travel to Van Cortlandt Park to compete in the CUNYAC Championship meet. Start-time is scheduled for 9:30am.
