Cougars defeated in straight sets by CUNYAC foe Baruch College

The Medgar Evers women's volleyball team dropped a CUNYAC match at the Cougars Cave last night, falling to the Bearcats of Baruch College by scores of 5-25, 8-25, and 7-25. With the defeat, the Cougars slipped to 0-7 on the season (0-3 CUNYAC), while the Bearcats improved to 4-3 (2-0 CUNYAC).

Despite the loss for Medgar Evers, the Cougars were paced by veteran Britonya Lloyd, as she registered a team-high three kills while also contributing six digs. Quiara Brye Bey added two kills and a match-high seven digs, and Jennifer Metra, Mariame Gueye, and Sherly Garcia all had three digs apiece.

For Baruch College, the Bearcats were led by the efficient attacking of Julia Perkowski, as her 10 kills led all players (10-1-13, .692). Sarah Chung added six kills, three service aces, and three digs. Delaney Killeen and Emilie Kaziu tallied five and four kills, respectively, and setter Karen Castro's 14 assists were a match-high. Finally, it was Elana Vaysburd leading all players in service aces with nine.

Service aces were the name of the game for Baruch, as the Bearcats piled up 31, with seven players recording at least three. Baruch also hit .393 for the evening (30-6-61).

Medgar Evers will return to action on Thursday evening, as the Cougars will travel to Phoenixville, PA to take on the Valley Forge University Patriots. Start-time is scheduled for 8:00pm.
