The Medgar Evers women's basketball team suffered a CUNYAC defeat on Tuesday evening, falling to the Lightning of Lehman College by a score of 80-69. The contest took place at the Cougars Cave in Brooklyn, NY. With the defeat, the Cougars slipped to a mark of 5-10 on the 2023-2024 campaign (2-7 CUNYAC), while the Lightning improved to 6-15 (5-5 CUNYAC).

Pacing Medgar Evers in its victory was freshman standout Sheily Quezada, as she registered her third consecutive double-double, scoring a team-high 21 points while registering game-highs of 15 rebounds and six blocks. She also dished three assists and tallied two steals. Mariame Gueye was locked in, connecting on seven of 13 attempts from the floor, including three launches from downtown, to finish with 20 points. She also swiped five steals, collected four rebounds, and dished three assists. Finally, it was point guard Jennifer Metra netting 14 points, snatching five boards, registering three times, and collecting three steals.

For the Lightning, Ramatoulaye Diallo led all scorers with 32 points. And with that, she became a member of Lehman College women's basketball's 1,000-point club. In addition, her 11 rebounds and seven steals were both game-highs, and the standout also dished three assists. Myandra Duquesnay finalized her evening with 17 points, a game-high six assists, five rebounds, and two steals, and Jordyn Perez connected on three trifectas, finishing with nine points.

Medgar Evers led throughout the entirety of the first quarter, holding a six- point advantage on four occasions, and taking a 19-13 advantage into the second period. 2:09 into the second quarter, Gueye connected on a triple to give the Cougars their largest lead of the game, 23-13.

Later, the Cougars later led 26-19 before Lehman College put together an 11-1 run over a 3:30 span to catapult ahead by a score of 30-27 with 1:58 remaining in the half. A converted trifecta by Gueye knotted the game at 30 apiece with 1:45 left on the clock. The Lightning would outscore the hosts 7-4 over the remainder of the quarter to take a 37-34 edge into the locker room at halftime.

The Lightning carried the momentum it built towards the end of the first half into the second half, as Lehman opened the third quarter with a 9-2 run to take a 46-36 advantage. Capping that run was Perez, as she drained a triple to give her squad its first double digit advantage of the night. From there, Lehman would never lead by any less than 10 points, going up by as many as 17 points, before eventually securing the victory by 11.
